About this trek

What the day is actually like

Garbett is the trek people remember for the walk rather than the summit. The trail leaves the Matheran plateau, runs through shoulder-high grass and settles onto a broad, flat table of rock and turf that ends abruptly at the cliff. In monsoon the whole valley below fills with moving cloud, and the plateau feels like the edge of something much larger. The gradient is gentle for most of the distance, which makes it one of the better first treks in the range — but the surface is slippery when wet and the exposure at the edge is real, so the group stays together near the drop.
