What the day is actually like

Kothaligad, also called Peth fort, is short and unusual. The walk up from Ambivali is easy going, and the fort itself is modest — until the last stretch, where the steps are cut straight up through the inside of the rock pinnacle and emerge on top. It is a favourite for a first trek because the effort is low and the finish feels genuinely like a discovery.

Itinerary

Hour by hour

  1. Meet at Karjat

    Group assembles and travels to Ambivali village.

  2. Briefing and ascent

    Briefing, then a gradual walk up to Peth village.

  3. The pinnacle staircase

    Climb the steps cut inside the rock to the top.

  4. Descend

    Return the same way.

  5. Disperse

    Back at Karjat by mid-afternoon.
