An ancient trade pass with rock-cut caves, a stone toll jar, and the reverse waterfall in full monsoon.
Representative AURALIS trek photograph — not shot on this route.
Naneghat was a tolled trade route between the Konkan coast and the Deccan plateau more than two thousand years ago, and the evidence is still cut into the rock: a cave shelter, inscriptions, and a large stone jar that collected the toll. The climb follows the old pass itself. In strong monsoon wind the waterfall at the edge is pushed back up the cliff, which is the thing most people come to see, though it depends entirely on the weather on the day.
